The St. Louis County Historical Society, located in
Duluth, Minnesota, has featured “Behind the Lines: A Soldier, His Family, and
the 10th Mountain Division” in the latest issue (August, 2021) of “Rootprints,”
the e-newsletter of the Society. Because the soldier of the title
(my father!) lived the whole of his adult life in Duluth, and because frequent
reference is made to Duluth in the book (especially in the chapters “No Place
Like Home,” and “The Home Front,”), the book may hold special appeal for
residents of St. Louis County who will appreciate the glimpse of their city in
bygone years (most notably the 1940s).
